Review: Skinfood Aloe Sun Essence SPF 27 PA++

Hello everyone! I'm back with another skincare product from Skinfood, Aloe Sun Essence SPF 27 PA++. The perfect light sunscreen for all of you with dry skin. This has been my daily sunscreen when I stay mostly indoor or minimally exposed to sunlight. I have had this sunscreen for a while but just recently re-used this again. Now, I am completely regretting abandoning this lovely sunscreen. Don't you want to know why? ;)

Product Description:
A waterproof sun block essence that has a sun protection factor high enough to use safely for all four seasons. Rich in extracts of aloe and green tea, which has the powerful ability to soothe the skin. It protects your skin from irritation caused by UV rays and gives nutrition to make your skin healthy.

How to use: Apply evenly across the face except for eye areas at the last stage of basic skin care.
Net Weight: 50ml

Pardon the wrinkles and the dirty paper print on the tube. I've used almost half of the tube already.

This sun screen comes in a plastic tube packaging. Design wise, I love it. I love how skinfood products always use this kind of textured paper and pretty logo. I just couldn't resist. Also, I personally really like the packaging as it is really easy to squeeze the product out in the right amount. I like how it is hygienic and doesn't get dirty overtime.

This sun screen gets absorbed to the skin really fast. It is super easy to blend and does not leave any white streaks or white cast to the skin at all. It does give the skin a slight dewy finish but will be almost gone after a minute or so. It also provides moisture. My skin would feel soft after application. I think this is really suitable for dry skin or for winter time, not so sure about those with oily skin though. But I think it shouldn't be a problem as it does not give this sticky/greasy feeling.

I love how this sun screen doesn't give me that burnt sensation like how most sun screens do. Maybe because it is lighter and has moisturizing properties. Oh, it does have a subtle floral scent which I really like. But you might want to stay out if you hate having fragrances in your skincare :)

Overall Rating: 4/5
Repurchase? Maybe. However, I would like to try other sun screen with similar properties but with higher SPF because I think I am exposed to the sun more regularly these days.

What do you think of this sun essence?
Do you know any sun screen with similar properties?
Tell me, I would love to know more!

  3. I'm looking for a good product with SPF for the spring that doesn't cast a ghostly white color. I also hate the smell of sunscreen. This may become my pick. Thanks!

  4. Hi Bella :3 I love that there's aloe vera and green tea in this sunscreen, it sounds like it's almost like skincare and not sunscreen haha. This sounds perfect for me because I have super dry skin atm because of the cold temperatures T^T

    Thanks for this review!
And I never tried this product but I heard the nivea protect & refresh sunscren spray should be good for hot temperatures and there's a 50spf version of it too ^-^

  15. I'm all about spf that is not greesy. But, I think spf 27 is not that high. Have you tried the one from Shiseido? It's not greasy and it's spf 50, no fragrance. And thanks fo ryour reviews, I love korean products!

I've also been looking for a sunscreen to use on a more regular basis, because all I have a heavier duty ones that are more suited to big beach days.
I have been wanting to try out skin food for a while, and now I just might!
    Thanks for the review.

  18. This is not greasy at all! :D I've tried the one from Kose Sekkisei and I think it's quite similar with the one from Shiseido. I still like the consistency of Skinfood's aloe more though. It's really lovely.
