Coreana Rodin SHO Horse Oil Cream

Horse oil seems to be really popular these days, especially in Korea and Japan. There are tons of skincare products in market today which uses horse oil as its main ingredients mainly because it's been known to be effective to promotes self-healing ability as well replenishes nutrients for the skin.

I have tried horse oil cream before from Guerisson and I loved it! Today I want to review another horse oil cream from another brand, Coreana Rodin SHO Horse Oil Cream.

Coreana Rodin SHO Horse Oil Cream is enriched with Vitamin E, to fight fine lines and restore skin's texture. Not only horse oil, it also contains 8 other comprehensive ingredients from Jeju Island:

Mandarin extract to clean and purify.
Honey brings immediate moisture, vitality, and energy into the skin.
Kiwi to improve immunity, add vitality and help eliminate dead cells.
Tangerine peel enriched in Vitamins A & C as antioxidant, calms skin and improves tone.
Broccoli contains Vitamin C to control pigmentation and blocks aging process
Aloe to calm and moisturize
Avocado nut as anti-inflammatory, fights aging and conserves elasticity
Lemongrass to sterilize, add vitality and adjust the skin’s balance

Pretty promising, right? Coreana Rodin SHO Horse Oil Cream comes in a pretty luxurious looking container, almost similar to Guerisson 9-Complex Cream with only slight difference in design and colour scheme.

Instead of Orange, Rodin used gold entirely for its packaging. Although the gold colour does look more professional but I prefer the design from Guerisson as it has a lot more attention to details. Rodin Horse Oil Cream comes in a clear glass jar with handy little spatula to keep the content hygienic at all times.

The texture of the cream is really buttery. Feels kinda thick when you scoop it out of the jar but glides and melts on the skin once it is spread. Really really nice consistency. It doesn't feel oily like the one from Guerisson and in fact absorbs to my skin really quick. I am in love with it. So moisturizing. It doesn't feel too heavy on me even though the weather's been crazy hot these days.

I use this everyday now in the morning and at night. I love it the most to be used at night as my skin would feel super bouncy and oh-so-lovely to touch when I wake up in the morning. It also has a floral citrus scent which I really enjoy. The smell is a lot more subtle and lovely compared to the one from Guerisson.

My skin has been so troubled lately and this cream, together with iSOi Bulgarian Rose Blemish Care Serum, has been really helpful in reducing blemishes and dark spots.

I definitely recommend you to try this out if you would like Horse oil skincare products, especially if your main skin concern is dryness. It moisturizes so well, absorbs fast, and leaves the skin feeling superb. It retails for only $30 on GMarket.

update 05/04/2015: I am not entirely sure why but my skin started reacting (clogged pores and little pimples, lots of them) after a while using this cream. I doubt that it has anything to do with horse oil but this one just doesn't work on me, because I had no trouble at all with the other horse oil cream Guerisson 9-complex. I stopped using it and my skin is better now, a lot better.

  1. Nearly lost my sht at the "excellent penetrate ability" part...DIRTY JOKES.
BUT SERIOUSLY, HORSE OIL? WHAT WHY? As if snail extract wasn't a weird enough ingredient for me already but HORSE OIL? (I guess it wouldn't be any different from fish oil BUT HORSE???)
Anyways, the other ingredients sound good enough to eat though. The packaging is so luxe, and it sounds like a fantastic product!

  2. HAHAHA! I'm not even sure what scientist or more precisely, beautician thinking when they develop new skincare products. HOW DO THEY EVEN COME UP WITH THE IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE.

but this horse oil thing is really popular in Korea and Japan these days. Well, most probably because they were introduced by the actresses so maybe that's why they get really popular. Oh well..
